Accounts Receivable Specialist
Job Summary:
The A/R worker performs a wide variety of duties as they relate to company policy. Those within the Accounts Receivable Department must demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy while working in a complex home care environment. AIR must be able to competently and compassionately service patients and establish a genuine patient and family rapport. You must possess the ability to provide the best customer service possible. You must be willing to multi-task and be a problem solver.
Essential Duties/Skills:
- Phone etiquette in regards to patients and Insurance companies.
- The ability to work with assigned office and the location CSR, this will include occasional travel to another the assigned branch location.
- Follow professional email etiquette, keeping all email work related and HIP AA compliant.
- Verify all patient information is accurate and qualifying for reimbursement.
- Manage patient accounts. Must establish a problem list, to be addressed in a timely manner.
- Work all patient accounts and verify payments and billings have been done correctly when auditing accounts.
- Assure Medicare and company compliance with all patient accounts, researching Medical necessity documentation when applicable.
- Ability to learn and effectively use our DME software
- Knowledgeable about documentation including: CMN's, Physician Orders, Prior Authorizations, EOB's and ERN's
- Other duties required as needed.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required with preference given for additional college or professional training in medical billing and/or medical coding.
Experience:
Previous experience in DME/HME billing is highly recommended. Experience working in an office setting with a background in insurance, customer service and medical coding is preferred.
Supervision:
Responsible to the Director of Finance, the Office Manager of assigned office location, the VP of Operations, and the CEO.
Physical Necessities & Exposure Risk:
Light physical work with the majority of time spent in the office. Exposure to infectious disease and hazardous materials will be minimum to none.
