Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Job Summary:
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COT A) performs a wide variety of duties as they relate to company policy. The COT A will present a pleasant and helpful manner to customers, employees, referral sources, vendors, governing agencies and the general public. He/she shall adhere to the policies and procedures set forth in company standards.

Essential Duties/Skills:

• Responsible for administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the staff occupational therapist.


• Responsible for maintaining COTA license in good standing, completing continuing education requirements, practicing Occupational Therapy according to the guidelines set forth by the AOTA following the AOTA Code of ethics and State and Federal law.


• Administers treatments and occupational agents as directed by the staff occupational therapist, after the Occupational Therapist has evaluated the patient;


• The COT A assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability; Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.


• Must participate in operational aspects of the department.


• Participates in all infection control, department equipment training, organizational and safety programs, and all other programs as required.


• To perform additional duties as needed.

Education:
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree. Must have a valid license to practice Occupational Therapy.

Experience:
Experience in a rehab practice is preferred.

Supervision:
Responsible to: VP of Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapist.

Physical Necessities & Exposure Risk:
Moderate physical work with the majority of time spent in the office. Exposure to infectious disease and hazardous materials will be occasional.
