Occupational Therapist
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist performs a wide variety of duties as they relate to company policy. The Occupational Therapist will present a pleasant and helpful manner to customers, employees, referral sources, vendors, governing agencies and the general public. He/she shall adhere to the policies and procedures set forth in company standards.
Essential Duties/Skills:
- Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering occupational therapy modalities and treatment as prescribed by the physician.
- Responsible for maintaining OT license in good standing, completing continuing education requirements, practicing Occupational Therapy according to the guidelines set forth by the AOTA following the AOTA Code of Ethics and State and Federal law.
- Administers treatment and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability; assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
- Must participate in operational aspects of the department.
- Provide input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines;
- Ensures that patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
- Participates in all infection control, department equipment training, organizational and safety programs, and all other programs as required.
- Develop criteria for hiring, monitoring and evaluating employees that will assist in physical therapy.
- Oversee the development of meeting agendas and the information given to employees and patients.
- To perform additional duties as needed.
Education:
Occupational Therapy Degree. Must have a valid license to practice Occupational Therapy.
Experience:
Experience in a rehab practice is preferred.
Supervision:
Oversees: Employees assisting in Occupational Therapy practices.
Responsible to: The VP of rehabilitation.
Physical Necessities & Exposure Risk: Moderate physical work with the majority of time spent in the office. Exposure to infectious disease and hazardous materials will be occasional.
